History Press West’s Publishing Internship Program
HP West’s volunteer internship program provides interns with an introduction to book publishing and the opportunity to build marketable publishing skills. Depending on the applicant’s experience and the current project needs, internships can be designed with an editorial or a marketing focus. HP West interns work directly with commissioning editor Aubrie Koenig. Applicants with knowledge of the Pacific Northwest are preferred.
Interns may assist with a variety of editorial tasks, including reading manuscript submissions, fact checking, developing retail lists, researching historical events, liaising with archives and museums, and drafting marketing copy.
Interns may assist with an array of marketing tasks, including researching author event opportunities, drafting marketing copy, developing blog posts, and interviewing authors.
HP West is currently seeking interns for fall of 2016 and spring of 2017. We ask that interns commit to working five to ten hours per week for at least a four-month period. Course credit can be arranged for university and college students.
