Just in time for the start of the Major League Soccer season comes a new rivalry book from History Press Sports… Look for Geoffrey C. Arnold’s Cascadia Clash: Sounders vs Timbers in Portland and Seattle bookshops this February 2013.

Arnold will sign copies of Cascadia Clash at a special author event March 16, 2013, at Elliot Bay Book Company in Seattle just before the Sounders and Timbers match. He will also be signing at Powell’s Books in Portland on March 10, 2013.

For decades, the Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers have met on the pitch to battle for territorial respect and Pacific Northwest dominance. Though the kits have changed, the intensity of this epic rivalry between the neighboring clubs and their passionate and unruly supporters has not. Drawing on interviews and deep research, veteran sportswriter Geoffrey C. Arnold takes a behind-the-scenes look at the chants and tifos, villains and champions, bragging rights and blowups that define this feud. Join the March to the Match and celebrate with chainsaw antics as Cascadia Clash chronicles the Flounders vs Portscum tradition from its 1975 beginnings in the North American Soccer League to its current status as Major League Soccer’s greatest grudge match.
